Why do I have to start at the Library's website?

Answer

You have to start at the Library's website because you cannot access licensed resources directly by typing in the URL of the publisher, nor can you access other licenced resources UVic does not subscribe to, such as those held at other Libraries.

The resource needs to know that you are from UVic, so that you can be authenticated as an authorized UVic user, and granted access.

Therefore, you must enter these databases and other resources by following links on the UVic Libraries website, including those from Subject Guides, SFX or Databases A-Z , as these are also Library resources.
