Is UVicSpace self-publishing or a vanity press?

Answer

No. UVicSpace is not a publisher of any kind, but a venue for the distribution and preservation of scholarly works. Some of the content has already been formally published, with UVicSpace providing an alternative way to access it. Other items in the repository are too obscure or unmarketable for traditional publication but still have scholarly and archival value.

Either way, open access items like those in UVicSpace have greater potential for research impact. We're also committed to its long-term preservation. There are no fees to archive your works or for others to access them.
