Why do I need to remove signatures from my ETD?

Answer

Signatures are private information that are protected by privacy legislation. Due to the prevalence of identity theft, you must remove any signatures from your document in order to protect our faculty and staff. All signed pages are instead kept in hard copy in the appropriate University Offices. Signatures appear is places such as the ethics approval page, and copyright permission pages. You can omit signatures by whiting or blacking them out before scanning the page, removing them digitally, or eliminating the page entirely by deleting it from the PDF.
