How do I find encyclopedias?

Encyclopedias can be general or subject specific, popular or scholarly, and available in print or online. To find encyclopedias:
- Search the libraries catalogue (Books & media tab), to find encyclopedias. Do a keyword search and the word 'encyclopedias'.(eg. sociology encylopedias)
- Search within a collection of online encyclopedias such as Oxford Reference Online. More great collections can be found under Databases by subject/ Dictionaries and encyclopedias.
- Browse the shelves in the reference collection behind the Research help desk for print encyclopedias.
Most subject guides list relevant encyclopedias and reference books, including those which are highly recommended by your instructors and librarians.
