What is Google Scholar?

Answer

Google Scholar is a free web service that finds peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from broad areas of research. Google Scholar searches a variety of undisclosed academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.  Some of the content is available in full-text, while others have links to pay for documents.

A link to Google Scholar is provided on UVic Libraries' web page, on the Databases page.

Use Google's Library Links for full-text journal article access. Go to Google scholar and set your 'Scholar Preferences' to show you what's available at UVic Libraries (or any three libraries you choose). When you're browsing a results list, you will see what we have in our collection (with NetlinkID sign-in).
