Why should I access Google Scholar from the Library's website?

Answer

Google Scholar is freely available to anyone searching the Internet. Some additional content is available to UVic users through databases that are part of library database subscriptions.  When searching Google Scholar on campus, full text resources that are available from UVic subscribed databases or electronic journals will be automatically accessible.

However, when searching Google Scholar from an off-campus computer not connected to the UVic network, full text access may not be accessible. To facilitate access to full text for off-campus UVic users, Google Scholar has been added to the Libraries EZProxy service. By searching Google Scholar from the UVic Library website (on the Databases page), UVic users can access all the subscribed material otherwise available when searching Google Scholar on-campus.
