What is WorldCat? How do I find it?
Answer
WorldCat lets you search the collections of libraries around the world. This is useful for many reasons, including:
- to verify a book citation
- to find a book that we don't have, so you can request it from Interlibrary Loan
- to find a book we don't have in another local library, such as Greater Victoria Public Library
- to see what other editions exist of particular book
- to see what other books an author has written
- to track down translations of a book, or that book in different formats (ebook, audiobook, etc.)
- to discover what is available at a library you plan to visit
