Why do some call numbers start with a number? Aren't they supposed to start with a letter combination?
Answer
Call numbers that start with numbers usually belong to items of interest to students in the Faculty of Education. These resources are shelved by the Dewey Decimal system on the second floor of the McPherson library. The Dewey Decimal System is used in public school libraries.
University and College libraries generally use the Library of Congress system, which starts with letters of the alphabet.
