What are "licensed resources"?

Answer

Licensed resources include most of the databases, electronic journal and electronic text subscriptions listed in Summon, Databases A-Z, Databases by Subject, etc.  and the full text resources available from the Library. These electronic resources are provided through subscriptions from commercial information providers. The licensed library resources include databases, electronic journals and texts, government publications and websites, etc. The UVic Libraries have licensing agreements with the commercial information providers, which restrict access:

  1. To all current UVic undergraduate and graduate students, staff and faculty; or
  2. From a UVic Network address on campus.
