Try consulting a library research subject guide.  There are guides on specific topics such as Research Methods, Language and Literacy, and Indigenous Education: http://libguides.uvic.ca/cat.php?cid=13703

You can also ask for help at  the Research Help desk,  or set up a specific online or in-person appointment with a subject librarian
